Putting theatre
into Streatham

Streatham’s local
theatre company

The Streatham Theatre Company has been created by local residents - actors, directors, producers, writers, technicians and others who have a genuine passion for the performing arts.

The Company creates opportunities for people in the area to gain real life theatre experience and practical skills across all aspects of creating and staging productions, such as writing, directing, lighting, sound, costume and make-up as well as acting.  We are open to all (aged 18 or over) - theatre novices and theatre professionals, and everywhere in between. We operate on the amateur model but aim to work to professional standards.

Founding member and chairman David Harvey said, “With Streatham formerly known as the west end of south London, we have a great heritage in theatre and performing arts.  Simon Callow CBE and June Whitfield CBE were both born and brought up here; Homeland and Hollywood actor David Harewood is a current resident, and one of our Patrons.”

If you have always had a desire to ‘tread the boards’ or to help ‘behind the scenes’, and would like to join the group or get involved with a production then contact us or come along to an event. Even if you don’t want to take part in productions, the company also holds regular social events, with readings, quizzes etc. There’ll always be an event on the second Tuesday of the month, plus others.

We’re a friendly, sociable bunch so after most rehearsals and other events we usually retire to a local pub where you are most welcome to join us.

Note that we are a members club, operating as an unincorporated association. We can only take members aged 18 or over. For children’s theatre, see our list of other groups.
